Chicken Burgers

Yay the final one done and dusted ...

I put this on because it took  a lot of filming for such a short clip

You need a plan not just a story

You need to collaborate it's too hard to do this alone

You need to have the right props but ... be decluttered and clean

You need plenty of time eating a 9.30pm is NOT ideal

Fresh Rolls 1

It's always nice when my children and their friends call in and we share a meal and they want to help me with my projects. I am a grateful Mama.

Whats working :

Different a few different camera angles

The lighting

The song choice

The reason behind the clip

Whats not working:

A little jumpy in places

I cut some of their heads off

Blurry in some places

Tutorial on making Apple

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rGrwvEjZIQ

I like how the light is perfect
I like how the camera is on the right side so you can see everything the cook is doing
I like the sound track it's kind of funky and works it works well
I like how it's slightly sped up so you can still get the story of what they're doing
I like the introduction of each step without having to speak the instructions.

Food Tutorials ... I'd like to do something like this. Only 15 seconds of deliciousness mmmmmm

Moving Images - An Interview with Chef Marco Pierre White

An idea for Moving Images an interview with a local Chef. Asking Specific questions (Pre talked about). In their place of work maybe (comfort). Have them cook something that's easy or fast (time).

Martha Rosler - Semiotics of the kitchen 1975
  • Black and white film looks authentic/appropriate for that era, works well I like it.
  • Narrative: The artist names utensils then demonstrates their uses or how not to use them e.g the knife, ice-pick and spoons.
  • Gender and domestic issues "A womens place is in the kitchen"
  • I feel we are now living in a society where hardly anyone knows how or wants to cook or even knows what some of the utensils would be or what they're used for. I would maybe do a positive or humorous  spin on this , it might be a good idea?

Lens and Building Images Research Artist

I am a collector of cook books and food magazines and was extremely happy to obtain this copy

For over 13 years my  whanau are lucky to go on holiday at Martins Bay and over the Christmas/holiday/summer period cooking in a caravan is a challenge for all of us on holiday :D

Zucchini fritters everyone has a Favorite recipe

Coming Home, Welcome Home ...

Lists who doesn't have them?
Thank you Frances  Hansen :D
In the first week of starting my BCA at MIT one of my lecturers Frances Hansen said that it is a good practice to look up our other lectures Rebecca Hobbs and Taarati Taiaroa and what their art practices were so to my Food happiness I also googled Frances who had  published a cook book in 2011 and I had to have a copy and was so happy to be given a copy by the Hubby. Nostalgia is what I think when I first saw this book I excepted it to smell old and musty but it didn't. The family recipes, personal tidbits and the feel of the beautiful pages. Soups, Blackballs, Thermos and Rice pudding and bread and Butter Pudding reminded me of my Nan who took the time and patience to teach me to cook. Pom Poms (woolly ball), Flora and Jelly moulds is Mikes mum to a tee. Spice girls and lemon meringue pie (Tania makes a mean LMP) reminds me of my daughter, Pikelets are one of my Max's breakfasts.Aprons, shopping lists, soup, caravan, zucchini, scalloped potatoes, Tika, Recipes, Utensils, Cooking are me. I like how this book is like scrap books we used to have/make when we were kids layers of colour and meaning.

Self Portrait - Final Photo for Lens Based Media

The day was a typical 4 seasons in one New Zealand day from extremely sunny to very overcast.  I used the kitchen light (fluorescent) , outside light (large bay window) and a white board to achieve enough light, sometimes too much light i like how the vegetables edges have been highlighted by the light giving some of the veges sharp edges or a softness. I took lots of photos from many angles experimenting on what looked good to me. My focus was  on the beetroot leaf and I like the texture and freshness of  how it looked as I knew it was picked fresh that morning. I was glad  that I can still see the ribs of the cabbage and kamo kamo, the capsicum is defined only because it's red the tomatoes are to blurry and blend in with it and although the Dial face of the scale is blurred I can see what it is . There was many shades of green (favorite colour) with a break of red of the capsicum and beetroot leaf veins . The scale breaks the colour as does the side off the wooden tray. The edges of the tray, zucchini and beetroot mid rib lead my eye back to the beetroot leaf in the foreground although the scale has my attention too. As the wife of a gardener and a person who likes to cook I am pleased with the vegetable haul.

Without flash, plenty of outside light, front on angle

With flash background to bright

Another different position, reflected light too bright
