Lens - Experiment

Nana Molly my Inspiration to cook one of my favorite things she'd make was her Beef and Vegetable Soup

Bacon Bones Soup you have to becareful as sometimes the bones can be salty

Chicken and Vegetable Soup a good way to use leftover chicken bones and meat bulking out with vegetables and rice or pasta.

Sometimes I make Fresh rolls these were made from a recipe given to Me by my friend Lisa Smith.

Seafood Chowder a family favorite because Seafood is not always cheap I wait until my Husband goes fishing and use all the bits to make Seafood stock.

My Husband grew Leeks (YUK!) so I made Chelsea Winters recipe from her cook book ... I'm still not sure how I feel about Leeks!

Beef and Vegetable Soup made in a crocpot unlike in a pot on the stove like Nana Molly used ... still taste as delicious though.

There's nothing like the smell of homemade soup cooking when I get home from Course and knowing my Whanau love it. Satisfying!

Lens- Self Portraiture - Surface reasearch

Taste magazines my friend Heather gave me a subscription for this nearly 6 years ago. I really enjoy the photography and some of the stories about the Chef in these magazines.
Some of my cooking books, in the Jamie Oliver book I love his fresh Pasta recipe because its easy to make ,you make it by hand and in the food processor. The top cookbook has the most amazing Jumbo cookie recipe I love it because you can put whatever extra ingredients into them I really like adding roasted and salted Macadamia and White chocolate or Dark chocolate and crystalised ginger.
My Malouf cook book was given to me by an ex of my Brother Rex who happens to be a Chef I love the beautiful illustrations in this book and the fact that it is a collaboration of husband and wife.

A very stained page as it's one of the easiest Risotto recipes I've come across. This cook book is from the Australian winner of Master Chef 2009 - Julie Goodwin. The name of this cookbook is called Our family Table. I like that this book has blank pages at the back so you can add your own recipes.

I've been cooking in my own kitchen for over 25 years one of my first purchases was an Edmonds cookbook but this is my second copy as the first one lost it's cover and some of the cover pages I've put it away so it doesn't lose anymore.

Lens - Experimentation

Today in class , with SDelius our task was to make 4 paper aeroplanes. Our first plane was front heavy so didn't fly at all. The second and third design were sleek in design and both flew well and far. The fourth design which was obtained from the internet also flew well.

Lens Based Media - Photo Shop

Todays task was to clean up an existing text by using the clone tool then added my phrase and changing the size, place and perspective.
This task took me all lesson to create. I am not a computer whizz so ... just quietly I'm kinda proud of what I GOT and I do appreciate the help from Amy and Heni-ana. My hope is by the end of 8 weeks I can progress from this if not I can make it look better?

Building Images - Steve Lovett

The Wharenui, Tiki and Kiwi are all things that I identify with now and from childhood. I like the layered effect, and although the images are visible and they overlap its clear what they still are.

I like the use of colour in this image especially the splashes of vibrant colour and the soft pastels. I also like the layered effect and the repetitive shapes. I like the colour green and black and also circles so this was another reason I choose this image.

This image reminds me of Christmas, it has a wintery Christmas nice feel about it to me. The image of the tree is solid and I imagine the blotches of colour as the twinkly fuzzy lights and the background looks like there could be snow.

Surface Research
As the frond grows from a seed with the help of sunlight, rain and nutrient rich soil so will my knowledge grow.

My time management information.

My time management schedule.
4 weeks in and I've realised a few things. I've had to get up earlier, I'm not using my self directed time wisely, It's hard to juggle Whanau life with Course life, the computer side of things is still freaking me out :D but I'm still enjoying myself.
